To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Moscow State University's Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics, a competition was announced to design a commemorative logo. The logo was intended for use in promotional materials, merchandise, and presentations, and scalability across different media was a key requirement.

My design was inspired by a fundamental cartographic concept from school geography: the transformation of the Earth’s spherical surface into a rectangular map. The intermediate stage of this process also references the Gauss-Krüger projection, a cornerstone of rectangular map projections. The color scheme is inspired by classical topomaps. Additionally, I incorporated an element symbolizing remote sensing technology, represented by radiating lines.
