Road Graph Analysis and Application
May 2020
As part of the
Geographic Networks Analysis coursework, this project applied network analysis techniques to optimize waste collection routes in small Russian cities. Using a custom ArcGIS toolbox and OpenStreetMap road data, various graph parameters were calculated, including centralities based on road length, travel time, and hierarchical importance.
The analysis resulted in an optimized route for a garbage truck, ensuring efficient coverage of all waste collection points while minimizing travel distance and time to the landfill. This study highlights the practical application of GIS-based network modeling for urban infrastructure planning and logistics optimization.
